Homicide Charges to Result from Burnout Tragedy in Tennessee

Filed under: Burnouts — Tags: — blasterhappy @ 7:16 am

You all probably remember last summer’s awful story of Troy Critchley, the pro mod Corvette driver who lost control of his car during a burnout and plowed into a crowd of bystanders at a kids’ charity event in Selmer, Tennessee. Now, the Aussie racer is up on charges of vehicular homicide (times six, the number of people killed), and 22 counts of “reckless aggravated assault,” one for each of the spectators injured during the incident. He’s also getting sued by the families of the injured and deceased to the tune of over $100 million dollars. Article by Jen Dunnaway of Cardomain.com See full article/blog here.
This article dates back to March but I wanted to bring attention to it to get some reaction from you. I personally feel these charges are harsh considering the negligence was not all of the driver’s. Please read this entire article before commenting. Thanks.

Bizzarrini P538 – Italian & Thai Design with an American Heart

Filed under: Cars — Tags: — blasterhappy @ 5:58 am

CHONBURI, Thailand — You might think the Italians and the Thais would make for strange automotive bedfellows, and for the most part you would be correct. In the case of Scuderia Bizzarrini and the modern-day P538, we can only hope the nascent partnership results in at least a limited run of cars.
The carbon-fiber chassis of the P538, will house a Corvette 7.0-liter LS7 V8 rated at 500-plus horsepower and mated to the same Cima six-speed sequential gearbox that’s used in the Pagani Zonda and Koenigsegg CCX supercars. Bizzarrini customers also will be able to order a 1,000-hp twin-turbo Lingenfelter-modified LS7. Only 100 cars are intended to be built over a four year period. See the complete article here.
