Well the last 6 months were pure hell and ultimately ended with me being unemployed. I have never worked for a company that aided in it’s own destruction.
Anyway I have found myself with more time lately and hope to get back to posting in M3 again. I actually attended a car show last weekend and brought home a Spectators Choice Award. It felt good to get out and drive the Camaro. I had actually forgotten how much I really enjoyed that car.
Don’t know what happened with the formatting of the Mafia Blog here but something has definitely gone wrong with WP. I lost all of my links…hell everything in the right margin for that matter.
Well I’m glad to be back and you will be hearing from me more often now.
Since I took over an office in Jackson, MS the last 3 months have been a blur. Needless to say I haven’t been to any car shows much less had time to look at the Camaro.
I was at one time considering selling the ’71 Z28 because I just didn’t have time for it anymore and there are things the house needs that I just don’t have time to do myself.
Time has always been my enemy. Never enough time to get things done and never enough time to take a break.
I’m just hoping things ease up at work.
Of course M3 has also been neglected as I have started a private blog for my technicians. I hope to get back on top of this also and go forward with plans I made when we turned a year old.
So for the time being I will be posting the occasional Pinup and History post and try to mix it up when I can. Thanks.
If the music is as good as the cover art…I have to have this album.
On May 26th Miss-Lou Motor Mafia will be one year old. What started out as a way for me to vent about bad car shows and stuff that goes on in the hobby basically turned into my own little way to express my opinion in sometimes a sarcastic, if not bitter way.
Well things have changed over the course of a year. Me personally, it’s been two job changes, my oldest daughter graduating high school and a different focus on what is important. I quickly learned that life is to short to be pissed off all the time and that I needed to quit sweating the small stuff. I also learned that people are generally good in nature but have there bad moments and it’s all about timing.
I was thinking about shutting down Mafia and possibly going back to my old car club, The River City Bad Boyz. I don’t know if that will happen and I’m ok with that. M3 is special to me because it is uniquely me and for that reason it will go on for another year.
Time is my biggest enemy now. There is never enough time to do what I want or what I planned to do. Plans of starting a M3 commercial website and merchandising are still on hold and I kind of like the fact that it may be indefinitely. I’m no longer making promises or holding myself to what I think I should be versus what I want to be as an author of this blog.
I’m disappointed in the fact I don’t actually write as much as I used to and that I feel I’m cheating my readers, all two of you (the wife and Jordon Morningstar). I can only do what time will allow and I will continue to do short features such as Pinup!, On This Day In Automotive History and the occasional special interest piece.
In short I guess I’m saying I look forward to another year of Miss-Lou Motor Mafia with a totally different mind set. I hope you like it. Look for some changes in our look coming soon as well.
A while back I blogged about a 1967 Chevy C-10 Pick-up I saved from being scrapped at a local scrap yard. Well after a tornado came through our area on Sunday all hopes of making this truck into a rat rod were completely crushed (no pun intended).
Approximately 9:30 am a tornado came through our area with a vengenence. Fortunately we were not directly impacted but received some very strong winds that a toppled a tree in my neighbor’s yard. The tree came down right on top of the of the ’67 Chevy C-10 heavily damaging the stepside bed and cab. Considering the amount of damage and what I have invested in the truck, I think I will pull the motor and transmission and scrap the truck.
My shop also received a good size hole from a large limb that feel from the tree. Needless to say I will be home today cleaning up the mess and meeting with insurance adjusters.
Well I have been extremely busy training for my new position in Jackson, MS and just recently got home from Dallas, Texas (uh… training in Dallas for the position in Jackson) Friday night. Unfortunately there is not much to report in the areas of car shows because I haven’t been to any.
Dad on the other hand has already racked up a Sweet Sixteen (Top 16) out of over 140 cars from the Ole Brooke Cruisers show in Brookhaven, MS with the ’68 GTO and yesterday brought home a Mayor’s Choice from DeRidder, La that had over 190+ cars with the ’57 Thunderbird. So congrats to him!
I’m hoping to get the ’71 Camaro Z28 RS out soon and make a show or two but as of right now I’m concentrating on work so it looks like I may have to miss out on several shows.
I hope to get some pics up from the 2 shows mentioned. I got Dad a good high end camera for Christmas and he has been doing great grabbing digital pics for me so look for updates in Car Show Pics.
As for the ’71 Camaro Z28…I’m still at the mercy of Summit Racing. The Fuel Manifold I ordered for the Dual Quads has been on back order for the past 3 weeks. It should be in soon and I can get the Dual Quads on as well as my Holley Blue Label electric Fuel Pump and Regulator. It seems I have been talking about the Dual Quads for over a year now….wait it has been practically a year! Nothing ever goes smooth for me when Summit is involved.
Well anyway it looks as if things are looking up and that things will be quite busy around here for a while. I’m glad Spring is here!
I’m not feeling to hot today. Seems I picked up a cold that has moved into my chest. So I’m not really in the mood to write anything so I’m gonna take a shot of NyQuil and goto bed. Sweet Dreams!
Hey Vicks! You can pay me later for the endorsement!
Yeah between work and Honey-Dos I haven’t had much time to post anything. I managed to finish all of the Wood Work in our Dining Room this weekend so the remodel is almost complete.
I keep staring at that ’67 C-10 Pickup out back. I need to get that motor out and get to work on it soon. I want to build a semi-pro street Rat Rod and call it “Death Trap”. That is what my wife called it when I dragged it home and she saw it for the first time. This is the same woman that called the ’71 Camaro Z28 RS a “Piece of Shit” and then refered to it as the POS for 2 years after that. Well all I can say is “You can Shine a Turd!” Now she wants to drive it every possible opportunity she gets. HAHA!
Now I can get to the “Wife leave me alone so I can get something done dos” like putting on my Dual Quads and Installing my new Holley blue Label Fuel Pump and Regulator and get my Gas Guage working.
How come there aren’t Wife-Dos?!
In checking the stats on the M3 Blog I found a sudden surge of traffic to the Farrah’s Foxy Vette entry from August 26, 2008. In one day the post had 266 hits with a total of 368 hits as of December 1st which makes it the #1 entry since Miss-Lou Motor Mafia started back in May.
This was mainly contributed to the post being linked from Corvette forum and Trans Am forum enthusiast websites.
It will be interesting to see what the Top Post will be once M3 celebrates it’s 1 Year Anniversary.
UPDATE! This is post has passed over 1000 hits having been picked up by 4 different sites of which one is German. Funny!
I hoped to get M3 caught up but fate just wouldn’t have it. My internet was down from Saturday till now so I got nothing done I wanted to. Well I did get some long over-due yard work done. Anyway I plan to get everything back up to speed as soon as possible. Sorry for the delay.
